McCormick & Kuleto's Seafood & Steaks offers a classic San Francisco dining experience with a focus on fresh seafood and hearty American steaks, all set against the backdrop of stunning waterfront views near Ghirardelli Square. This full-service restaurant caters especially well to visitors who want to combine a scenic meal by the bay with solid, traditional fare.

The atmosphere strikes a balance between polished and comfortable, with large windows framing the water and boats bobbing in the harbor, lending a relaxed yet refined air. It’s the kind of place where watching the late afternoon light shift over the water enhances the sense of occasion without feeling overly formal. Expect the dining room to fill up especially around sunset, when diners linger to take in the changing colors over the bay.

On the plate, McCormick & Kuleto's serves classic seafood dishes like fresh oysters, chowder served in a bread bowl, and more robust entrées such as filet mignon and ribeye steak. Portions tend to be generous and reliably fresh, though the kitchen plays it safe rather than pushing culinary boundaries. Appetizers like fried calamari and lobster and crab dip tend to be popular starters, and the New England clam chowder remains a frequent go-to for many guests.

Service quality can vary depending on the server, but attentive, professional staff are often noted as a highlight, enhancing the overall experience without intrusion. For those celebrating a special occasion or simply wanting a solid meal with waterfront ambiance in a tourist-friendly part of the city, this spot fits the bill well.

While the food hits expected notes rather than surprising, the combination of generous portions, classic flavors, and the sweeping bay views creates a memorable setting. It’s best enjoyed during daylight or early evening hours to soak in the visual scene alongside the meal.

Locals and travelers alike appreciate it as a reliable option for seafood and steak near the waterfront, where the focus is on comfort and consistency rather than trendiness. If you’re at Ghirardelli Square and looking for an easy, satisfying dinner spot with a view, McCormick & Kuleto's is a practical choice.

I've come here with my family many times. Food is solid, nothing amazing, but everything is good. Service is usually attentive and professional, but depends on your server. Great view and ambience. Highly recommended for people visiting San Francisco and wanting to enjoy some good seafood by the bay.

Appetizers were so delicious. I enjoyed the entire dinner immensely. The pasta wasn’t that exciting but the view of the sun setting on the Bay made the experience magical. And appreciated the beautiful service of Caesar!

I found the food to be very good, fresh, and a good sized portion. I must say that the star of the show was our waiter by the name of Greg. He was an older gentleman and he was so incredibly nice, professional, and very very attentive. Me and my wife celebrated our anniversary last night and it was such a pleasure having Greg wait on our table…This man deserves a raise….My wife and daughter both ordered the salmon which they state was cooked to perfection and my angus ribeye was very flavorful and cooked the way I liked it…. Calamari appetizer was ample and delicious….. The only thing that would have made it a perfect experience is if the restaurant was 5-6 degrees warmer. It was quite cold inside and my wife had to put her jacket back on. Although my wife was there for the the first time yesterday Ive been there a total of 3 times and its always been cold inside…

The restaurant has such beautiful, serene views from your table. The staff was attentive. The food was fresh from the oysters, fish & clam chowder. The steak perfectly seared. I highly recommend eating here if you're at the Ghirardelli square.

Celiacs beware: yummy but gut wrenching food. I could not get a straight story from the waitress or the chef. Illness was Swift and furious. Be very careful and insist that they separate, especially that they don't cook anything in the fryer. They seem A couple steps above clueless. It's a pity because the food was tasty. The service was okay. Maybe not as informed as it could have been but, friendly and helpful and good-natured. The views are spectacular and a cloudy Sunset always makes for views that look like something painted by a Dutch Master. Restroom had no toilet paper or paper towels and I had to leave a 90 something-year-old standing waiting while I ran to the bartender who couldn't care less and deflected me to the front desk which was down a level. I had to call down to her and ask her to please come up. The hostess was very kind and came running to try and find some paper products. At a place with these prices that should never be. They need to be more on top of their game. They were warm and friendly and welcoming, which we really appreciate it. But if you're going to invite someone over, you need to have the place ready. People with allergies need to be extremely careful. To pay all that money and to lose the meal right after is a complete waste. It is sad. They need to do a better job with kitchen staff. Education from the top down. Servers need far far better info about the allergy and that even when Foods just touch a person can get ill. Other five star restaurants, even four stars that are careful we have no problem with. It's just a matter of them being more aware and intentional. Parking was easy underneath.. this is a very difficult place for the elderly as it's multi-level and set on a steep hill. The nice solution is parking in the lot and taking the elevator to the front door of the restaurant. They do have a handicap half elevator inside the restaurant to make up for the distance between levels. It was a fun experience and very tasty. We wish the wait staff had been more honest about how big heavy and filling the desserts were because we ended up wishing we had split. So if you've had a full meal, just split something. The restaurant has two really nice private rooms which are great for board meetings, family anniversaries and birthdays, etc. The one on the lower level is brighter and cheerier with a view. Except for getting so ill on the food. I was wishing for a big family party to fill that beautiful room.

I should’ve done some research before coming here so I give them the benefit of the doubt. My group ended the day at Ghirardelli square after walking around the city for hours and we were all craving clam chowder in a bread bowl. We were too tired to walk anywhere else so we decided to just try it here, despite it being more expensive than the ones at the pier. We weren’t dressed very formally but we weren’t dressed poorly either but it still felt like somewhere we weren’t supposed to be. We were really disappointed when they told us the bread bowls were only for lunch time, along with a few other items that were only displayed on the menu outside. We knew it was a mistake to only come here for soup because of the slight pressure we felt to order more from our server, I understand why but, it made us a bit uncomfortable after we already declined. They were still very friendly and not rude at all, we could just tell it felt like we were wasting their time and seemed disappointed. The soup was still delicious, the clams were perfectly cooked. We ended up trying some oysters that were also great, they came with a flavored ice which was really unique. The room was nice and cozy with a decent view but this isn’t the spot I would recommend to just anybody. Also the music did not fit the fancy atmosphere at all.

McCormick & Kuleto's Seafood & Steaks, located in Ghirardelli Square, offers a great Happy Hour in the Fisherman’s Wharf area. The restaurant has stunning views of San Francisco Bay, making it a wonderful dining place. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a well-designed bar where you can relax. The friendly bartenders enhance the experience. Happy Hour is from Monday to Friday, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and it is perfect for winding down after work. The Happy Hour menu features tasty options like the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl, which is full of fresh flavors, and Kuleto’s Cheeseburger, which is always juicy and satisfying. You should also try the Calamari "Fritto Misto" or the rich Black Truffle Fries as great snacks with your drinks. If you look at the regular menu, don’t miss the Anchor Steam Fish & Chips. It’s well-made and goes well with many drinks, making it a good choice for seafood lovers. When my friends and I visit, we start with a round of draft beer, usually enjoying the refreshing Fort Point KSA Kolsch Style Ale. We always order a big plate of crispy fries that are hard to resist. Depending on the night, we might stick with the Happy Hour menu or switch to the regular menu for a bigger meal. The beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay always impress us, and someone in our group usually comments on how lovely it is. In short, McCormick & Kuleto's Seafood & Steaks is not just a restaurant; it’s a place where you can enjoy delicious food and excellent service, all while taking in the fantastic views of one of the most beautiful cities. Whether you want a casual drink after work or a memorable meal, put this place on your list!
